One of the new features of Windows Vista is enhanced handwriting recognition capability. It has a self learning function that maintains a user profile on the tablet PC user's unique handwriting style. For instance, I write a "K" using three strokes. A vertical down stroke, a down left-to-right horizontal stroke and an up right-to-left horizontal stroke. The tablet PC 2005 XP handwriting recognition would never translate those strokes correctly. I had to learn to write my K's using a two stroke sequence - vertical down stroke followed by a horizontal right-to-left and then a horizontal left-to-right stroke. With Windows Vista, it understands how I write my K's and translates it correctly. This self learning feature really enhances the user experience when filling out an Active Ink form in that it improves the recognition accuracy from a very good experience to an outstanding experience.
